ENCAPSULATED NaI(Tl) REJECT CRYSTALS
Occasionally we reject crystals from suppliers which just don't pass our quality control. A Cs137 spectrum from a new crystal should have a photo peak at 662 keV with a resolution better than 7.5% and these crystals all failed the test.
Although not useful for gamma spectrometry they are more than fine for counting applications and survey meter detectors where resolution is unimportant.
They are also make great "Show and Tell" objects for the classroom when students are learning about detectors.
All crystals are encapsulated and perfectly safe to handle.
