Re: My Fukushima report
Thanks for comments! Martin, the closest distance to the power plant is about 2km, if I remember that correct. I even visited directly the power plant because I could participate on a workshop. But taking photos was not allowed and I don't want to write too much about it. Not because I saw a secret,...

Re: HPGe detector back to life after long sleep
@Jonathan I would also not buy a used HPGe detector for thousands of Euros if I don't know the condition and I even haven't seen so many for sale on Ebay, at least not a complete one. Only separate parts like cables or NIM modules and even they were expensive. It was just a lucky chance for me to ge...

Re: My Fukushima report
I also found an old like abandoned temple that was in the forest on a hill and I went upstairs some old crooked stairs. It was very quiet here and somehow beautiful. Here I took a sample of the soil to analyze at home. Dose rate of the sample is just about 0,1µSv/h, but with impulse probe for beta r...

Re: My Fukushima report
I don’t exactly remember where I walked. I walked many kilometers besides main roads and also on very small gravel roads. The whole area was more or less empty and partly abandoned. There were just few houses and villages. As I walked more the small roads, I saw some abandoned houses and cars, again...

Nice report Janni. We could organise a forum group tour next time :) As you said in the other thread, your photos are familiar to me....except for the green cookie! Massimo I would appreciate a forum group tour :-) Here is the second part of my report: So as I stayed some days in that area, I also ...

Re: My Fukushima report
Thanks for nice comments! Yes, it is a raw egg and I had to ask how to eat it. So the solution is: there is meat and a soup with vegetables in the cooking pot in the right top of the picture. Under this pot there is a flame and I should wait until the flame is finished, so then the meat is cooked. T...

Hi Luuk,

Re: My Fukushima report
After the fish farm we drove to a hill where on top there was a hospital. That was still in the red zone and one of the the closest points to the power plant, that could be seen from that hill with all the cranes and behind it the coast. We looked a bit around the abandoned hospital and then continu...
