Re: Odd radtioactivity from US-based organic soybeans
Thanks, Michael! I just replied. I'll keep researching. Got to build good lead shielding. I'll spend a lot more time this weekend.

Re: Odd radtioactivity from US-based organic soybeans
You can turn your three 5 min surveys into one 15 min survey by calculating the number of counts (rate X 5 minutes) and summing the results. More counts means greater accuracy. In your first set of three 5 min surveys, you had 964 counts with the beans and 652 counts with background. Using these co...

Re: Odd radtioactivity from US-based organic soybeans
I'm using PRA today to try check soy beans but it doesn't let me change the Interval Histogram value from 20.8 to 2.6. I hit Apply & it immediately reverts back to 20.8. I even loaded old setting that worked fine the last time, it also got stuck at 20.8. I restarted laptop, uninstall & manua...

Re: Mobile spectrometer
Is it possible that PMT & the rest may be the weakest link for most of the large crystal like yours? I understand RadiaCode 101, Atom Fast 8850 & RaysID are all using much smaller crystal (doped with Tl) with silicon PMT plus optimized pipelining & machine learning-type of processing to ...

Odd radtioactivity from US-based organic soybeans
Hi all, I have been making my own organic soy milk using this machine (can also make soup, etc) @ https://tinyurl.com/549ek2e5 I bought my first bag of organic soy beans recently. Today, I decided to take a look using the 2nd unit of GQ GMC-600 Plus. Here is what I got totally unexpected. This organ...

Re: Mobile spectrometer
It may be interesting to check against Co-60 source @ https://youtu.be/MSxD964J8sY I understand RadiaCode 101 use cube sensor unlike Atom Fast 8850 giving it similar sensitivity from all directions (with smaller sensor, of course).

Re: What is this nuclides in wild mushroom from europe?
BTW, I have not created any custom lead shielding yet. I did use lead pig to place sample in the front of the 1.5" NaI probe (also to block anything coming my ways). I just clean everything today and use Atom Fast 8850 as dosimeter to make sure I don't get myself exposed to too much radiation &...

Re: What is this nuclides in wild mushroom from europe?
Steve, I re-calibrated using Cs-137 and attached all data for Cs-137, Po-210, Sr-90 & others. I'll subtract background next weekend. I think I might know what causes the wild mushroom to be radioactive. When I got it, I kept both Uranium ore (inside a tin can) right next to the plastic bottle of...
