Re: Cs-137 in Europe
Eckert & Ziegler are based in Berlin, Germany and supply radioactive sources. I have never made a purchase from them and have no specific knowledge of them other than that shown on the website. See the link below - https://www.ezag.com/products/isotope-products/industrial-sources/ https://www.e...

Re: What do prime numbers and fusion have in common?
Binding energy is not "energy" but rather the lack of there of, the chart you show above is upside down. 56-Fe is at ground potential or should I say the potential of earth, and 1-H is at a high potential (that's why Hydrogen and Helium float upwards not down). Hi Steven, I'm not sure I u...

Maxim, love your post and your excitement for this type of Chinese innovation! I already knew of that device, but it's interesting to see that you can consistently get one of these (saw a bunch of people already reporting on this), so it's not a fluke. Obviously an arguably intricate scam and they c...

Re: Theremino PMT adaptor board?
I'm curious if anything resembling the “PmtAudioAdapter – New version” board described at the theremino.com website under schematics#pmtaudioadapter is available assembled from any source? The page links to what may be a personal email address for "Lello" Hi John, to me it does look like ...

Re: SiPM Driver Board
Hi John, I know this problem all too well. The thing is, if you just use an AC coupling capacitor, you will get other problems at higher count rates. You'd need a DC restorer circuit behind your cap or otherwise your signal levels will creep lower and lower the higher your count rate gets. The simpl...

Re: Example Audio Files
Steven, I know that it's not the usual way to go and also thanks for the additional info. I'm sure your reference and then the PRA manual are enough to get a good idea on what to give a try to succeed eventually. However, since I don't have a soundcard spectrometer (yet) and still want to give this ...

Example Audio Files
Hi guys, what are the common audio formats for saving the data from spectrometers? For example, when you take the audio inputs from the GS-Pro in PRA. Can you please attach some example files and maybe also the spectrum that would result from the file? I'm currently looking into how to process audio...

Re: Gamma spectroscopy file types
In the mean time, I've updated the JSON schema to allow for multiple spectra to be stored in a single file completely independently from each other. That should make the whole schema a lot more useful and resilient, especially since Steven has already made a similar change to the files in impulse II...

Re: CERN Visit
Steven, I was going to mention ITER, from this point of view it's really the same "issue" with that project :D But yes, I think it's really hard to tell too. I certainly wouldn't want to be that guy that announced the end of CERN or something. For now, I think we're still definitely gettin...

Re: CERN Visit
I see your point and I'm definitely agreeing with the fact that money attracts more money. You could discuss how bad (or good?) it is for today's science community if only people and projects get more money that have shown results in the past or have gathered some credibility. It's an interesting po...
