Hi Steven,
Thanks. Indeed LaBr3 unfortunately is not free from internal noise mainly due to Actinium beta's. But it is mainly present in the higher ranges, around 2000-2400 keV. Subtracting background is useful sometimes. Regards, Alfred

Lanthanumbromochloride detector gamma spectra (Th232,Lu176,Ra226,Co60,Cs137,uraninite, Fiestaware)
Hi guys,
I like to share a few gamma spectra I registered using my new LBC detector. Regards, Alfred

Re: Gamma spectrometry using eV CZT and PRA10
Alfred, very Interesting the use of the sensor ev CZT. What about the low energy gammas ? Did you try with Americium ? Lodovico Yes, I tested Am241 too, but I am not sure which files I saved. I am now at work, will look into it this evening. Regards, Alfred Enclosed two graphs showing 241Am, using ...

Re: Raspberry Pi muon microscope
Hi Pieter, I tried to imitate your setup for Raspberry Pi microscope but when I start getrawimage.py, I get ImportError : No module named scipy.misc. Do you know what went wrong? I did perform sudo apt-get install python3-scipy python3-picamera and the other two .py files seem to work. Screendump at...

Re: Gamma spectrometry using eV CZT and PRA10
Nice, glad to see you you were able to get some results. It is a while since I experimented with these, but one of the spectra I did was Ba133 and you can see it here. http://www.gammaspectacular.com/gamma_spectra/ba133-spectrum PRA is certainly capable of 1% resolution if your detector can do it, ...

Re: Gamma spectrometry using eV CZT and PRA10
Nice. I did a test with our AmpTek diode detector if PRA would be able to achieve the resolution. I posted the comparison with the Amptek Pocket MCA a while ago: http://www.gammaspectacular.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=75&p=367#p338 About 1 % in both cases. But I have not always been abl...

Nice to see you here to.
Any news about your Chinese crystal? did you buy it yet?
Groet,

Still hesitating. I did not find a good PMT for it yet and price remains rather high.
Best regards, Alfred

Re: A Spectrum to Ponder
@Steve, with respect to primordial elements, I also have 9 or 10 g of Samarium, which is an alpha emitter. However, I can't measure any alpha's neither gamma. Does anyone has an explanation? (When I use my 241 Am source I get thousands cps alpha's )
