I have not used Impulse with the GS-MAX-8000 to gather spectral data. All of my effort thus far has been to set the voltage, first with a Windows 11 laptop, then with a macbook pro. It would be nice to have an acknowledgement that a particular command was received by the GS-MAX-8000 or some indication that it was unsuccessful. With becqmoni the "-Uxxx" command very quickly caused a voltage change. This was not the case with Impulse. Using becqmoni it was a fairly rapid process to converge on the desired voltage.

I did briefly use becqmoni with the GS-MAX-8000 to acquire a Cs-137 spectrum from a NaI detector. I have used Impulse with a GS-USB-Pro to acquire a number of spectra for a variety of detectors.

Rob,

You were quite right, there is a bug in v2.2.7 the submit command function doesn't always work. looking into that now and will publish an update once it has been fixed.

Reported problem with sending commands to serial device
Rob,

This problem has now been fixed in v2.2.8, it was just an issue with time delay, not giving the serial device enough time to respond, which is why it intermittently worked. I tested the current version on my side and it seems to work without throwing any errors.

Errors are still possible if you click too many buttons too fast, but anyone who does that deserves it. haha 🤣

Steven,
I downloaded Impulse 2.2.8 for the mac and pc. First I installed Impulse on the macbook pro. I was able to easily enter the "-Uxxx" commands and set the high voltage on the GS-MAX-8000 for a NaI detector. I was also able to acquire a spectrum for a Cs-137 source.

Next I used a Windows 11 pc. Impulse 2.2.8 was unzipped and executed. The voltage could be adjusted easily with "-Uxxx" commands and spectra for several sources were acquired.

Thus, it seems that the GS-MAX-8000 device can now be easily used with Impulse 2.2.8. I am offering further comments, observations, and suggestions for Impulse in that topic.

Thanks for fixing this bug!
