Which cable do you guys use ?

I have some old cable that work, but now I want to buy some and I dont have any reference in the cable that I use, it has many years and now it's almost all gone...

.

I usually get lazy and grab whatever coaxial I have around, but the truth is, that the cable type makes a difference. Specifically look for the cable impedance. This group of posts on another forum has some good discussion. I hope this helps. https://fusor.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=5868

Wow, that goes back a while....2005, I was messing around with neutron detectors and didn't have a clue, what a journey.... haha 😛

In terms of the actual cable, RG-58 or RG-59 coaxial cable are the most commonly used, although they're not the only options.

In terms of connectors, you'll want whatever matches your equipment - there's a bunch of different common connectors for different types of detectors.

For high-voltage, that tends to be SHV, MHV (HV-BNC) or just regular BNC.

For signal, the most common is BNC, but I've also used a whole bunch of other connector types including SMA, SMX, MCX, LEMO-00 and more.

Some systems may even combine signal and HV in a multicore cable, which can be terminated in various specialist connectors like twinax, other LEMO variants, or various MIL-spec connectors.
