calculation of single and double escape peaks

Post by GeoFreelancer » 07 Apr 2026, 20:49

In gamma spectroscopy with scintillation detectors, escape events occur at photon energies > 1022 keV. Knowing the probability of occurrence of single or double escape events is of great importance for the interpretation of a spectrum, as they form a peak together with other emissions. The attached document describes a method developed using OpenGammaSpec.

Christian,

Thank you for sharing the paper about escape peaks - it is indeed a subject that confuses a lot of beginners.

Well worth reading ✅
