pictures of special detectors made by Scionix !

Hi guys,

Karl ask me if I could show some pictures from detector that we make at Scionix so I made a small collection from the special ones, so not the simple 2”x2” or 3” ones but real special I expect that you have never, or will see in real live.
All these detectors are custom made and none standard!
I shall put if I can some simple text with them if I have the information some are made a long time ago and I cannot remember them all.
If you have questions please keep them limited I can not answer hundreds of questions about every detector, sorry!

Nice range of custom work, I can only begin to imagine how much R&D goes into one of those custom detectors. I have seen those big compton reducing detectors, that sit inside the well of of a bigger detector, but it looks like a very expensive way to lower the compton counts. How much better results do you get from one of those, compared to just having a larger detector in the first place?

Thanks for sharing, that is indeed an impressive buffet of detectors.

I will limit my questions, and keep them simple:

What is the application for the ball NaI(Tl) detectors?

You had some low background copper detectors and some similar looking stainless steel detector. What is the difference in their use?

Most of these detectors look like custom stuff for research. Is this the main type of customer of scionix?

(Sexy well detectors at the end... I was drooling :) )

Hi Karl,

I really don’t know for what these balls are used, sorry!
The copper detectors are made of low background material and also the other materials inside these detectors are low background e.g. the pmt’s and glass.
The steel detector are not low background.
The last pictures from the large well detectors I put there special for you 

Thanks for the info. It is quite amazing that these low background detectors really have ALL materials with low background, even the PMT components...

And I thouhgt that I had many cables in my small "toy" corner... I will show my wife the picture of the anticompton shield, maybe she will not complain so much about my small setup anymore...
