A new Version of OpenGammaSpec is available. The efficiency correction and the self-attenuation correction can applied to the 'regions of interest'. All detected emissions can exported to a csv-file including the corrections and the activity calculation for each emission. If the mass of the sample is known, the relative activity is calculated too. Linux users use the upgradeGamma.sh as usual.

As a newcomer to this thread, I find the OpenGammaSpec SourceForge page mystifying. The 'Follow OpenGammaSpec' link points to the very same page, and there appear to be no notes on how to launch the Windows app or to build the Linux app. The file Gamma01 appears to be a Linux executable. The *capabilities* from the PDF look good, but I'm not sure how many non-Linux users can try it. (I'll say more after I install a Linux machine, say Asahi Linux.)

Thank you for the answer! For more than 20 years I have only used Linux because it is easier to administer and it is free software. I use Linux Mint, which is also the easiest for new users. It's always difficult to develop for two operating systems, but the Windows version is coming soon, I promise. The source codes are the same for Linux and Windows, if you are familiar with Lazarus / FreePascal you can easily compile them yourself under Windows, you just have to integrate a few libraries beforehand (see 'HowTo' in the OpenGammaSpec documentation), experience has shown that you just have to improve the design a little. But it's easier: Take a (not too) old computer, install Linux Mint (see their home page), download and extract the archive (Gamma.tar.bz2) from SourceForge.net → OpenGammaSpec, NewVersion folder extract them and start the script install_Gamma.sh in the terminal. This creates a directory 'Gamma' in the home folder, which also contains the executable file 'Gamma01', which can be started directly, or you can create a 'starter' on the desktop. When you start it for the first time, the program notices that some directory names are incorrect (e.g. it doesn't know the user name). A 'repair' of the initialization file is offered, then please save it with 'save'. If necessary, check the displayed directory names again.

Dear ColoRad-o, dear all, OpenGammaSpec for Windows is now available, it was no witchcraft to compile it as I feared. It is the file Gamma.zip on SourceForge.net -> OpenGammaSpec -> NewVersion, Simply extract this file in your home folder, there will be a new folder 'Gamma'. In this folder is a file Gamma01.exe (the executable file). At the first start the program repairs (applies) the init database. Save the init Database (overwriting the old).
