My intro

Post by Emanuele C. » 01 May 2015, 18:13

Hi everybody,
I'm Emanuele from Italy. I'm a mechanical engineer but my spectrum of interest extends to other technical disciplines.
I'm interested in electronics and Arduino, nuclear physics and everithing is related to science and technology.
I would like to greet Tom from iRad where I bought my first gamma scintillator and of course Steve.

My equipment and radioactive samples:
Ludlum model 3 with Bicron NaI(Tl) scintillator (bought from iRad)
Medcom Inspector Alert+ GM (2" pancake)
An old Russian Prypyat GM counter
A self buid Theremino based spectroscopy driver
Gamma Spectacular GS-1100PRO with GS-2812 NaI(Tl) scintillation probe
A lead caste for
My favourite MCA software is Beqmoni but I'm using also Fitzpeaks.

My radioactive samples:
Spark gap tube with Cs137
Some old tubes containing Ra-226
Thorium welding rod and other stuff containing Th-232
Uranium glass
Pure Potassium Chloride (K40)
Tririum betalights
Smoke detector source containing Am-241
Uranium ores..

About gamma spectroscopy I've some ongoing projects that I'll be glad to discuss within this forum:
A 2.5" x 2.5" NaI(Tl) probe from my gamma spectroscopy lab
A solid state radiation detector based on First Sensor X100-7, Arduino and OLED display
A new lead castle for my gamma spectroscopy lab

PS: I've already started some of the above discussion; find it in the old forum.

Emanuele,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the nice intro..

I am interested in your experiments with the first sensor solid state detector, have you found a circuit that works?

I bought some X-100-7 as well, but have not had much success with my circuits, so would love to discuss this in teh hardware forum.

Steven

Dear Steven,
sorry for my late answer but unfortunately I haven't so much time for my hobbies.
About my Geiger counter I have done some step forward with HW/SW (..I should say radiation detector since there is not GM tube..).
I will post some picture in the hardware forum.

Regards,
Emanuele
